Vanguard Europe is the European subsidiary of Vanguard Digital Printing Systems, based in Brixen, Italy. The company, part of Durst Group, is a manufacturer of true flatbed and roll-to-roll UV printing systems for the signage, decoration, industrial and packaging sectors. Vanguard relies on Barbieri's Spectro LFP qb to ensure optimal color accuracy and reproducibility across a wide range of applications and substrates.
One of the standout features of Barbieri's Spectro LFP qb is the exceptional accuracy. In various specialty digital printing applications like backlit ...
Insights from Viktor Lazzeri, COO of Barbieri Electronic
On a sunny September morning, our very own COO Viktor Lazzeri set foot in Clemson's Department of Graphic Communications, eager to share insights and absorb knowledge from the bright minds at Clemson. A notable mention, some years ago, was when a Barbieri Spectro LFP qb was generously donated to Clemson University, enabling the Department of Graphic Communications to excel in their color measurement applications for digital printing.
Viktor Lazzeri with Professor Carl Nelson Blue and the Barbieri Spectro LFP qb
The welcome was heartwarming. From Chip Tonkin, Chair of Graphic Communications and Director of the Sonoco Institute of Packaging Design & Graphics, to esteemed professors like Eric Weisenmiller and Carl N. Blue, the appreciation for Viktor's visit was vividly evident.

A Review of the Barbieri Spectro LFP qb Textile Edition by Bruce Leigh Myers, Ph.D.
Automated Spectrophotometer for Traditional and Specialty ApplicationsA Review of the Barbieri Spectro LFP qb Textile EditionBy Bruce Leigh Myers, Ph.D.Associate Professor, Rochester Institute of TechnologyFew would doubt the importance of color management in modern graphic workflows.
In the earliest days of ICC-profile-based color management for printed materials, instrument automation, ease of use, and accuracy proved to be a stumbling block inhibiting widespread use. The earliest adopters of these technologies for printed materials often used expensive spot reading spectrophotometers or lower-cost tri-stimulus reflective colorimeters, which provided requisite colorimetric values but suffered from accuracy issues. Using a spot-reading device for measuring the requisite measurement of hundreds of patches for output profile building is tedious and time-consuming. The monotony involved in taking so many spot readings also increases the likelihood of mistakes, compounding the ...
Barbieri Spectro LFP qb Reviewed By Rob Cawston At CMYUK
My name is Rob Cawston. I am an independent color management consultant working with CMYUK for over 15 years now.
CMYUK are a very early proponent of color profiling their super wide printers. CMYUK profile every super wide printer that comes out the door. This ensures that all colors are accurate, all grays and neutral, and all spot colors have a smal delta E, which basically means the colors are accurate and as expected.
I've been using Barbieri measurement instruments for the past 15 years. In my opinion, they are the best in the industry. They are especially good profiling materials for super wide printers. The unique feature of the Barbieri devices is that they can take automatic transmissive and reflective measurements on any thickness of material. Nobody else does this. The sensing unit on the Barbieri QB Textile edition takes a picture with a camera. That camera records where the patches are on the output. Then the spectral unit can scan the colors accurately by knowing ...
CMYUK has upgraded to the new Spectro LFP qb Textile edition
CMYUK has upgraded to the new Spectro LFP qb Textile edition automated reflection and transmission spectrophotometer from Barbieri. Designed specifically for the automatic colour measurement of digitally printed textiles, this device shares the same technology root as the original Barbieri Spectrophotometer but with new dedicated software and accessories.
CMYUK is a long-term user of Barbieri’s pre-eminent colour technology. Rob Cawston, Digital Colour Management Consultant at CMYUK for over 15 years says, “Barbieri is the best that there is. The build quality is superb, we’ve had 2 of these since 2008 and the original device is still working. These machines are absolutely bulletproof; they do the job really well, nothing matches them.”
The need for accurate custom profiles
Most super-wide printers supplied by CMYUK are calibrated and profiled on installation – overriding the manufacturers’ Generic Media Profiles. Using Barbieri technology, these profiles ensure a neutral ...
