In the earliest days of ICC-profile-based color management for printed materials, instrument automation, ease of use, and accuracy proved to be a stumbling block inhibiting widespread use. The earliest adopters of these technologies for printed materials often used expensive spot reading spectrophotometers or lower-cost tri-stimulus reflective colorimeters, which provided requisite colorimetric values but suffered from accuracy issues. Using a spot-reading device for measuring the requisite measurement of hundreds of patches for output profile building is tedious and time-consuming. CMYUK are a very early proponent of color profiling their super wide printers. CMYUK profile every super wide printer that comes out the door. Viktor Lazzeri of Barbieri recently visited RIT and spoke to students in Prof. Bruce Myers’ Color Management and Tone and Color courses about the state of the industry and the unique capabilities of the LFP-qb Textile Edition.
Dr. Myers, who teaches the Color Management and Tone and Color courses, states: “The students were very excited to learn about the automated capabilities of the Spectro LFP qb Textile edition for their coursework and research projects.
