CMYUK are a very early proponent of color profiling their super wide printers. CMYUK profile every super wide printer that comes out the door. This ensures that all colors are accurate, all grays and neutral, and all spot colors have a smal delta E, which basically means the colors are accurate and as expected.

I’ve been using Barbieri measurement instruments for the past 15 years. In my opinion, they are the best in the industry. They are especially good profiling materials for super wide printers. The unique feature of the Barbieri devices is that they can take automatic transmissive and reflective measurements on any thickness of material. Nobody else does this.The sensing unit on the Barbieri QB Textile edition takes a picture with a camera. That camera records where the patches are on the output. Then the spectral unit can scan the colors accurately by knowing the center of each patch is.

Originally, most measurement instruments out there had a very small aperture which wasn’t really suitable for measuring fabrics. Barbieri devices have an eight millimeter aperture with the addition of the textile upgrade this takes into account stretch and shrinkage in the media. This means that it will ensure an accurate color measurement every time.

The integrated airflowing system does an excellent job of blowing away any dust or ink residue in the measurement aperture in the spectral unit, resulting in more accurate measurements, only Barbieri would go to this much trouble.

Since we had the Barbieri QB upgraded to the textile edition, our first project was to profile the new VUfabric printer. I’ve profiled many textile printers in the years. Sometimes it can be challenging. The VUfabric materials take me very well, and it’s been an absolute joy to profile these materials. The Barbieri QB Textile Edition takes the Barbieri QB to an even higher level, which covers every scenario the profiling consultant will ever encount.
